Hi and welcome to Neuhart New Hope Counseling!

Welcome to Neuhart New Hope (2c).jpg

My name is Lisa Neuhart. My practice Neuhart New Hope Counseling is conveniently located just off I-45 in Grogan’s Mill Village within The Woodlands, TX. Prior to relocating my practice a bit further north, I have enjoyed serving the Houston area for several years. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I continue to specialize in the areas of: relationship therapy, couples counseling, and sex therapy, as well as providing personal counseling for individual adults.

My interest in relationships and counseling stems from my childhood, when my grandmother began passing on her love of psychology to me. From that point forward, I wanted to read anything I could get my hands on to better understand people, relationships, and the world around me. As I got older, this natural curiosity and passion to inspire and empower others continued to grow. Eventually, I became a listening ear and go-to person for relationship advice for many friends and peers.

From there, my path was set, as I embarked on my formal training to become a relationship and couples therapist, pursuing my B.A. in Psychology (Auburn University) and M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy (Kansas State University). This blend allows me to better understand and address the individual internal experiences of each person, while maintaining a strong systemic focus and being able to identify and understand existing relationship patterns. As a perpetual learner, I am always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge around personal and interpersonal concerns.

This balance between the focus on self and relationship dynamics enables me to help people to gain a better understanding of themselves and address issues that impact personal well-being (i.e. Anxiety, Anger, Self-Esteem, Body image, Perfectionism, Grief / Loss, Trauma, etc.), while helping them to create and maintain fulfilling, lasting connections with others-- whether with a romantic partner, family member, friend, or co-worker.

Through counseling couples and individuals, questions around intimacy, sexuality, and sexual well-being would often arise. My desire to be able to provide clients with a balanced, holistic approach and address these concerns, led me to seek out additional post-graduate training through University of Michigan’s Sexual Health Certificate Program in Sex Therapy.

Overall, as a therapist, I strive to create a safe, compassionate, calming, and positive space for you to open up about the struggles you are facing and discuss your goals and vision for the future. While I draw from a variety of effective, research based clinical approaches (i.e. EFT, Gottman Method, Prepare-Enrich, etc.), at my core my style is goal-oriented, strengths-based, and Solution Focused. I tend to incorporate helpful coaching and teaching of relationship building and communication skills within the process. Overall, I believe the therapy process should be “tailor made” for each client. I work with you collaboratively to provide you with a personalized counseling experience and practical tools to help you succeed in your relationships or personal goals.
